Successful Trials Of Flame Retardant Products

green chemicals plc, the developer of "cleaner, greener and safer" chemicals
with industrial applications initially in textiles, the pre-treatment of wool
and hair colourants, is pleased to announce the successful completion of its
field trials for durable flame retardant products with textile applications.

Working with Naylor Jennings Limited, a major fabric processor in the UK, green
chemicals has achieved the relevant flame test standard for curtains and drapes
(BS5867 Part2 TypeB / 12 washes) on large field trials involving cotton sateen
fabric. The Company believes that this development represents a major milestone
in the commercialisation of its formaldehyde free and durable flame retardant
technology.

Commenting on the news, Malcolm Jarvis, Managing Director of Naylor Jennings
Limited said: "For many years the environmental lobby has been waiting for the
textile and chemical industry to develop a flame retardant process that is as
effective at saving lives as the current products, but does not require the use
of chemicals such as; formaldehyde, antimony or bromine derivatives. Not only
does the green chemicals product do that without excessive cost, but it can also
be used in sensitive areas such as children's nightwear on cellulosic
substrates, thereby removing the serious risks from melting man-made fabrics."

He added: "Naylor Jennings Ltd is proud to have been involved in the development
of this process and expects it to be the basis for a whole new range of products
that reduce the environmental impact whilst improving the effectiveness and
scope of use for flame retardants."

Andrew Bayliff, Chief Executive of green chemicals plc said: "We have now proved
the effectiveness of our flame retardant products and are excited by the
potential applications in a market that is seeking cleaner and safer solutions.
We have, through these successful trials with Naylor Jennings, achieved the next
stage in our product development and look forward to moving ever closer to
commercialisation. "
